There are complaints of mixing of cheap grains, colors or poor quality powder in many ragi flours or grains sold in the market. FSSAI That is, according to (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India), nowadays adulteration is found in Ragi.
They are adulterating dangerous chemicals like rhodamine. This is a kind of artificial color, which is usually used to color cloth, paper or leather. It is strictly prohibited to use it in food items. But still this chemical is being adulterated in Ragi.

Disadvantages of eating adulterated Ragi

Rhodamine chemical is very harmful for health. According to NCBI, Consuming this chemical can cause cancer causing elements to develop. Apart from this, the risk of liver and kidney damage also increases. Studies show that Rhodamine B also damages DNA. In such a situation, let us now know how we can identify adulterated ragi.

To find out whether there is adulteration of rhodamine in ragi, soak a cotton ball in water or vegetable oil. Now take ragi in a bowl. Now dip the cotton ball in ragi. If the color of the cotton ball changes to red then understand that ragi has been adulterated. Avoid eating adulterated ragi. This can cause many harms to the body. Always check the test before purchasing and consume only unadulterated ragi.
