July 2, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The fight over Rabri Devi’s bungalow in Patna, the capital of Bihar, has now stopped. The government bungalow located at 10 Circular Road, Patna was finally vacated by former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Council Rabri Devi. After living in this residence for about 20 years, she has now shifted with her family to a private residence in Kautilya Nagar, Patna.

Although she was allotted government bungalow number 39 on Harding Road, she did not go there. Now National President of Rashtriya Janata Dal Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi will now live in a private residence in Kautilya Nagar. It is noteworthy that on June 22, the Building Construction Department had issued a notice ordering the vacation of the premises within seven days. At the same time, the wife and children of Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav have shifted to the government residence on Polo Road.

Now BJP ministers will live in this bungalow

This bungalow had special significance for Tejashwi Yadav, whether he was in power or in the opposition. Many memories of Tejashwi are related to this bungalow. It is noteworthy that whenever a government bungalow from a big political family is vacated, there is a lot of controversy regarding it. Be it in Bihar or any other part of the country. Now after Rabri Devi, BJP minister Nand Kishore Ram is going to live in the bungalow at 10 Circular Road.

Rabri was allotted bungalow in 2006

Earlier, the government bungalow at 10 Circular Road was allotted to Rabri Devi as the opposition leader in 2006. While living in this house, the Lalu family saw many small and big political ups and downs. Even after becoming the leader of opposition in Bihar Legislative Council, Rabri Devi continued to live in the government bungalow at 10 Circular Road. While living in this bungalow, Tejashwi Yadav became the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.

What was the bungalow dispute?

Earlier, Rabri Devi had refused to vacate the house. After this the Bihar government had issued a notice to him. After much controversy, Rabri Devi’s personal secretary, while replying to the notice to vacate the 10 Circular Road residence, said that the repair work in the allotted new bungalow 39 Harding Road has not been completed yet. Therefore, they were given time till July 5 to vacate the bungalow. Before this, when the bungalow was found in 2006, a list of all the items that were there should also be given, so that no allegations are made after vacating the bungalow.
