Addressing BSF soldiers Amit Shah Said that 140 crore people of the country have deep respect for the Border Security Force. The Home Minister said that in the last 60 years, BSF has protected the most challenging borders of the country, from the snowy peaks of -45 degrees to the +45 degree desert of Kutch, to the marshy areas like Sir Creek and Harami Nallah. During this period, about 2000 soldiers of the force made the supreme sacrifice.
Territorial Security Model in Border Security
Announcing a major change in the border security system, Amit Shah said that now a new concept of territorial security will be implemented in place of traditional border security. He said that a quadrilateral security grid will soon be prepared on the border.
In this model, along with BSF, local people, civil administration, state police and army will also play active participation. Thousands of crores of rupees are being spent under the Smart Border Security Project. A leak-proof security grid will be created through drones, radar, sensors, watch towers and high-tech surveillance systems.
Increased security in Harami Nala and Sircreek area
The Home Minister said that in the initial days of his tenure, the area of Harami Nala and Sir Creek was considered weak from security point of view, but now facilities like technical surveillance, connecting roads, watch towers, living arrangements for soldiers and drinking water have been strengthened there.
Raising the issue of incomplete fencing on the West Bengal border, Amit Shah said that now an agreement has been reached to provide land there. He said that with the blessings of the people of Bengal, our government was formed there and the Chief Minister has taken an in-principle decision to give land for border fencing within a week. Some land has also been given.
The Home Minister expressed confidence that once the fencing is completed, infiltration from the Bengal border will be completely stopped. Besides, the work of technical fencing is also going on at a fast pace to prevent infiltration through rivers, streams and forests.
Referring to the BSF center built for the common people in Banaskantha, Amit Shah said that more than 2.5 lakh people have visited this center in the last one month. In the feedback form, a large number of women have expressed their wish that their children should be recruited in BSF in future. He said that now this feedback system has also been made online for the convenience of the public.
