Let us know about this in detail.
according to legend…
According to the legend, Lord Krishna once started calling Radha ji in his sleep. All his wives were shocked by this. She started wondering whether Shri Krishna has not yet forgotten Radha Rani. In such a situation, all the wives went to Mother Rohini. Then Mother Rohini asked everyone to narrate the story of Shri Krishna and Radha Rani, but before that she asked Subhadra to guard the door. Then Subhadra sat on guard. They did not allow anyone to go inside. Everyone was listening to the story told by Mother Rohini with great attention.
Within a short time Lord Krishna and Balram also arrived there. Subhadra stopped Shri Krishna and Balram at the door, but the story that Mother Rohini was narrating could be heard outside. Subhadra, Balram and Shri Krishna were standing at the main gate and listening to him. While listening to the story, all three went into such a state that their hands and legs could not be seen properly. Then Devrishi Narad came and was shocked to see the condition of the three.
Vishwakarma ji put the condition
At that time, Narad ji asked Lord Krishna to remain seated on earth in the form of an ecstatic idol to give darshan to the common people, to which the Lord agreed. To accomplish this, after some time King Indra Ghuman requested an artisan to make these three statues. At that time Lord Vishwakarma came in the guise of an old man. He told the king that he could prepare the idols of Lord Neelmadhav, Subhadra and Balaram, but he placed a condition.
Vishwakarma ji said that I will prepare the idol in 21 days, but I will do this work alone and in a room. During this time no one will open the door. The king accepted this and then Vishwakarma ji started making statues in a room. Every day the sounds of saw, hammer and chisel started coming from the room, but one day the sounds stopped coming from the room.
Three statues remained incomplete in the room
After this, the king forgot Vishwakarma ji’s condition and opened the door. At that very moment the Lord disappeared from there and all three idols in the room remained incomplete. The king regretted seeing this. Then considering this as God’s wish, the incomplete idols of Jagannath ji, Subhadra and Balabhadra were installed in the temple. From then till today only the incomplete idol of God is worshiped in the temple of Puri.
