So far, about 65 lakh families in Punjab have been covered under the Chief Minister Health Scheme. As of today, patients are being treated in 824 hospitals – these include state government, central government and empaneled private hospitals. Covering around 2,300 diseases and medical services and the ever-evolving Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana has become an important health security blanket for the people of Punjab. But now it is being expanded on a large scale.
Bhagwant Mann Sarkar has approved 17 more medical procedures in private hospitals empaneled under ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’. Now people living alone have also been included in the scheme. This decision is being considered an important step towards expanding the state’s health insurance scheme.
no need to go far to hospital
It is noteworthy that for countless families of Punjab, going to hospital, long queues, crowded wards and long wait for treatment has been a problem. To reduce this burden, the state government has resolved to increase access to health services. Making it comprehensive, permission has been given to list 17 other medical services in private hospitals. Till now these services were limited to government hospitals.
With this decision, the waiting list for treatment in government hospitals has become shorter. Now beneficiaries will get the opportunity to get treatment from a large health service network. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that health services will improve in those districts where specialist medical services are less or dependent on government hospitals. This will reduce the pressure on big government hospitals. Patients will get timely treatment.
Women health services also expanded
People will be able to get treatment close to their homes instead of worrying about the crowds of big hospitals far away. Apart from the treatment of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), the biggest expansion has also been done in the field of General Surgery. Special priority has been given to women’s health services. The needy and weaker sections will be able to get treatment more easily and on time.
Benefit of the scheme even in fracture operation
Similarly, ophthalmology and orthopedic services have also been strengthened. Now eye related procedures like pterygium excision and entropion correction can also be done in private hospitals. At the same time, orthopedic patients will get the benefit of surgeries like tendon release, treatment of small joint injuries and operation of ankle fracture. The package rates of these new procedures have been fixed from Rs 2,000 to Rs 27,800.
