June 17, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann says that this new initiative has eliminated delays in government work to a great extent, reduced dependence on middlemen (agents) and made the entire administrative structure more transparent, accountable and citizen-centric. Through this system equipped with modern technology, till now government services have been provided to more than 31 lakh people of Punjab from their homes. The rate of pendency of cases in various government departments has now come down to just 0.33 percent, which is an unprecedented success.

Punjab Government It says that now the common citizens of the state can directly avail 437 types of government services at their convenience by calling the helpline number 1076, booking an appointment through WhatsApp, visiting online web portals or service centers. Once the appointment is fixed, specially trained doorstep delivery operators reach the citizens’ homes.

Benefits to the elderly, disabled, working class

They collect the required documents, assist in filling the application forms and complete the online application process on the spot, saving people from the hassle of frequent visits to government offices.

Senior citizens, disabled people, farmers living in remote rural areas, women and working professionals have benefited from this public welfare scheme. Earlier these classes had to waste their time and money for small government certificates or tasks, had to face harassment from offices and sometimes even exploitation by middlemen.

Since the launch of this scheme, more than 41.8 lakh appointments have been successfully booked under the doorstep delivery system. Citizens are now getting their required certificates and other approvals directly through SMS, WhatsApp and door-to-door, making government services extremely accessible and convenient.

Big change in verification process also

With the implementation of this new system, there has been a revolutionary change in the process of verification of documents. Now online verification has been started by Patwaris, Numberdars, Sarpanches, Municipal Councilors and concerned departmental officers. This step has significantly reduced paperwork, eliminated the need to be personally present in the office and also increased transparency and accountability in administration.

Another most important improvement of this system is the introduction of formatless services. Under this, now citizens are not required to fill long and complex application forms at all. Door-to-door delivery operators enter the required information directly into the system through digital means and the computer system automatically prepares the application form, making the process simple and reducing the chances of errors.

Feedback call strengthened accountability

Giving information in this regard, Punjab Administrative Reforms and Information Technology Minister Aman Arora said that the government is making extensive use of modern technology to make the administration more transparent and accountable. He said that technology is not a substitute for governance, rather it further strengthens transparency and accountability. Real-time tracking of applications reduces delays in operations, removes uncertainty and makes service delivery more responsive to the needs of citizens.

Big relief from paperwork: Aman Arora

Cabinet Minister Aman Arora further said that the main objective of the Mann government is to ensure that the general public does not have to visit government offices again and again to get common services and certificates. He said that the recent introduction of the facility of online verification of certificates through Sarpanches, Numberdars and Municipal Councilors is another historic and important step towards reducing paperwork, eliminating the need to visit the office in person and making government services accessible to the common people.
