The NITI Aayog report shows that Punjab’s children have achieved 82 percent proficiency in the language level of class three, while Kerala’s was at 75 percent. In mathematics, Punjab scored 78 percent, while Kerala stood at 70 percent. Punjab’s performance in Class 9 Mathematics was 52 percent, while Kerala could only reach 45 percent. These figures clearly show that the basic education of children in the government schools of Punjab has become stronger than before.
Today electricity is available in 99.9 percent government schools of Punjab. Working computers are available in 99 percent of schools. Smart classrooms have been built in more than 80 percent of schools. In availability of smart classrooms, Punjab is at 80.1 percent while Haryana is at 50.3 percent. In terms of internet facility, Punjab is at 88.9 percent while Haryana is at 78.9 percent. This difference is not just of figures, but of thinking and priorities.

The most interesting fact is that the performance of government schools in Gurugram, Haryana’s most prosperous and cyber city city, is far behind the lowest ranked districts of Punjab. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab has made education a people’s movement by taking it out of government files. Teachers were sent for training to countries like Finland and Singapore so that the children of Punjab could also take advantage of the world’s best education models. This is the reason why 786 students of government schools have passed national level examinations like JEE Main and 1284 students have passed national level examinations like NEET.
