
Punjab Police has exposed a big cheating racket in the Pharmacist Recruitment Examination. On Sunday, during the examination itself, the police took into custody 7 masterminds and 28 candidates of this inter-state gang. Besides, 27 battery-powered wireless devices being used for copying were also seized. Police detected pen cameras and real-time dictation during the pharmacist recruitment exam. Examination centers were made in Faridkot and Firozpur. A candidate named Ayush in Ferozepur used a hidden pen camera to scan the question paper, sent it through WhatsApp to his colleague Sajan in Bhiwani, Haryana, police said in a statement.
Sajan sent the question paper to Deepak, another member of the racket, who was present in a temporary control room inside Gurmeet Singh’s house in Society Nagar, Faridkot. The statement said that from this place, the main accused Manjeet Singh and Deepak dictated answers in real-time to several candidates sitting in the examination hall through wireless devices. Police investigation has revealed that till now no case of paper leakage or collusion of officials has come to light.
Used to charge huge amount to get job
It said that the entire incident happened in real-time after the exam started. Initial investigation revealed that the mastermind of this entire operation was Gurmeet Singh, who is an employee of Sant Kabir Polytechnic College, Fazilka. This racket used to charge huge amounts ranging from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 13 lakh from job aspirants to guarantee their pass. Police said that many candidates had already given post-dated checks to the fraudsters as financial security. He said that this racket worked with corporate level logistics.
Police said that on the morning of the examination, several members gathered at a hotel on Faridkot-Kot Kapura Road to distribute special battery-operated wireless micro-devices to the candidates who were involved in the fraud. A total of 28 candidates have been detained in Faridkot and Ferozepur for using these devices, out of which 27 devices have been confiscated by the police. The police have also detained seven main people running this racket from Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab and raids are being conducted to nab the remaining members of the gang.
