
Hamza Burhan, one of the masterminds of the Pulwama attack and Pakistan’s most wanted terrorist, has been shot dead. Burhan was shot dead by unknown assailants in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan, due to which he died on the spot. According to sources, the attackers shot Hamza several times to kill him.
Hamza was the top commander of Al Badr and his full name was Arjmand Gulzar Dar alias Doctor. According to security agencies, he was involved in anti-India terrorist activities for a long time and was counted among the prominent faces who pushed the youth towards radicalism in South Kashmir.
Hamza was included in the most wanted list
Arjmand Gulzar was originally a resident of Ratnipora area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is said that he had gone to Pakistan about 7 years ago through valid documents, where he joined the terrorist organization Al-Badr. Later he became the operational commander of the organization and started running the network of recruitment, funding and supply of weapons to terrorists in Kashmir from Pakistan.
Indian security agencies had kept him in the most wanted list for a long time. The Home Ministry of the Government of India had officially declared him a terrorist in the year 2022. According to the ministry, he was playing an active role in spreading terrorism in Pulwama and South Kashmir, recruiting youth into terrorist organizations and providing financial support for terrorism.
Hamza was part of the digital radicalism model
Pulwama has been a sensitive center of terrorist activities in the valley for a long time. Many big terrorist faces emerged from this area, including the name of Burhan Wani, who had influenced the youth towards radicalism through social media. Arjmand Gulzar is also considered to be a part of the same digital radicalization model, in which youth were instigated to take up arms through social media and local networks.
According to security agencies, Arjmand Gulzar’s network was active in Pulwama, Shopian and Awantipora areas. He was accused of sending weapons, funding and terrorist instructions from Pakistan through local overground workers (OGWs). In many cases his name was found linked to explosives recovery, grenade attacks and terrorist recruitment.
