Ex-IPS Kamya Mishra Viral: The lifestyle of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and their stories often remain a topic of discussion on social media. These days, former IPS officer Kamya Mishra of 2019 batch of Bihar cadre is in the headlines for her unique love story and sudden resignation from the job. Recently, in an interview given to a digital channel, he spoke openly about his personal life, love story, policing experience and the possibilities of entering politics.
The love story of Kamya Mishra and her husband Awadhesh Saroj Dixit (currently IPS) is no less than a film script. Kamya told that after clearing UPSC, both of them got acquainted during the foundation course at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie.
During the course, when he went to Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh for a field visit, Kamya went ahead and proposed Awadhesh. The interesting thing is that at that time he did not have any expensive ring to propose. Kamya immediately plucked grass from the ground, made a ring from it and wore it as a promise ring to Awadhesh in front of the other batchmates. Later, during training in the Police Academy of Hyderabad, this relationship became stronger and both of them got married. Kamya says in a joking tone that Awadhesh is very straightforward, hence she had to take the initiative.
Funny trick given to boys to impress girls
During the interview, Kamya laughingly gave a funny relationship tip to the boys. He said that the boys should pretend that they do not know anything and should not give any expressions at all. According to Kamya, “Don’t even speak, don’t show interest, don’t give any emotion, I am sure that the girl will follow. If you give emotion, she will run away, because everyone gets thrill in running after and chasing difficult things.”
Why are there more marriages among IAS-IPS officers?
When Kamya was asked why so many administrative couples leave from Mussoorie and Hyderabad, she gave the practical reason behind it. He said that due to being in the same field, husband and wife are well aware of the challenges, responsibilities and timing of each other’s job. In police work, one often spends a lot of time away from home, so understanding each other’s background makes the adjustment much easier.
Night raid in Diara and the famous ‘gym trainer case’
Sharing her experiences as a police officer, Kamya said that it is very challenging to conduct raids against liquor mafias at night in the gorges and ravines of Ganga, because criminals easily escape in the dark.
He recalled the famous ‘attempt to murder of gym trainer’ case of 2021 in Patna as the most memorable case of his career. In that case, a married woman (Jim Trainer’s girlfriend) had given a contract to kill Jim Trainer when he backed out of the affair. The gym trainer was hit by several bullets, but he himself reached the hospital by bike and his life was saved. A doctor and his wife were arrested in this case. Kamya also told that interrogating criminals addicted to drugs and getting them to reveal the truth is the most difficult task.
Why did you leave the IPS job?
Kamya Mishra resigned from her post in the year 2024 after just three years of service, her last posting was as Rural SP in Darbhanga. Putting an end to the gossips floating after his resignation, he clarified, “There was no pressure on me to leave the job. The reason was completely personal. My father has a business and I am his only child. I took this decision only to take care of his business.”
Will Kamya enter politics?
On the question of future plans and entry into politics, the former IPS said that at present she has not made any plans, but she is not completely denying it either. Kamya said, “If I get an opportunity to enter politics for social service, I will think according to the situation at that time. I will join only that political party whose ideology matches with mine and which will work in the interest of the country.” Along with this, he also praised the unique style of teaching of Patna’s famous teacher Khan sir.
