President Draupadi Murmu presented gallantry awards to the brave soldiers of the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces and State/Union Territory Police during the Defense Investiture Ceremony (Phase-I) held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 08 June 2026. A total of 51 heroes were honored at the ceremony for their courage and sacrifice.
The President awarded 07 Kirti Chakras (including 02 posthumously), 15 Vir Chakras (including 03 posthumously) and 29 Shaurya Chakras (including 01 posthumously) for their bravery on the battlefield and in counter-terrorism operations. These awards were given to personnel who displayed exceptional bravery without regard to personal safety in the line of duty.

Shaurya Chakra Award
A total of 29 Shaurya Chakras were awarded in the ceremony. These include MHA Inspector Laxman Kewat and Inspector Rameshwar Prasad Deshmukh (16.04.2024), Lieutenant Colonel Nitesh Bharti Shukla (13.07.2024), Major Aditya Pratap Singh (24.10.2024), Major Ashish Kumar (01.11.2024), Constable Sanjay Tiwari and Fida Hussain Dar (02.11.2024), Names of many heroes including Deputy Commandant Mohammad Shafiq (05.11.2024), Lieutenant Commander Suraj Prashar (05.11.2024), LS Ram Goyal (05.11.2024) are included.
Apart from this, Naval Lieutenant Commanders Dilna K and Rupa A (26.01.2026) were also awarded Shaurya Chakra. Shaurya Chakra awarded posthumously to L/DFR Baldev Chand (19.09.2025).
Vir Chakra
Vir Chakra recipients include Colonel Koshank Lamba (07.05.2025), Group Captain Ranjit Singh Sidhu, Group Captain Manish Arora, Group Captain Animesh Patni, Group Captain Kunal Kalra, Wing Commander Joy Chandra, Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht, Wing Commander Sarthak Kumar, Squadron Leader Siddhant Singh, Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik, Squadron Leader Arshveer Singh Thakur and Naib Subedar Satish Kumar (10.05.2025) are included.
Vir Chakra was posthumously awarded to MHA Sub Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz, Constable Deepak Chingakham (07.05.2025) and Rifleman Sunil Kumar (10.05.2025).
Kirti Chakra
Kirti Chakra recipients include Lance Naik Meenatchi Sundaram A (19.12.2024), Naib Subedar Doleshwar Subba (11.04.2025), Major Arshdeep Singh (14.05.2025), Air Commodore Prashant Balakrishnan Nair (25.06.2025) and Captain Lalrinavma Sailo (28.07.2025).
Kirti Chakra was posthumously awarded to Sepoy Janjal Praveen Prabhakar (06.07.2024) and Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari (22.05.2025). The President congratulated all the award winners and their families and paid tribute to their sacrifice and courage for the country.
