We are fulfilling the promises made in the resolution letter.
Amit Shah said, we are fulfilling the promises made in our manifesto during Bengal elections. Praising the BJP government of the state, he said, I have full confidence that the resolve of making Sonar Bangla will be fulfilled under the leadership of Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari. Referring to Mukherjee’s political legacy, the Home Minister described the occasion as emotional and said that the contribution of the former Union Minister was deliberately ignored for decades.
He said that for the last 63 years, efforts are being made to forget Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and his contribution. Shah said that installing a 125-feet tall statue in the home state of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee would be a fitting tribute to him, whose ideas are shaping the governance system in large parts of the country today.
Main political stream of the country
He said that on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary, the foundation stone of his 125-feet tall statue was laid in West Bengal, which is a tribute to his enduring legacy. Underlining the ideological legacy of BJP, Amit Shah said that the political movement started by Mukherjee has grown from a minor force to the main political stream of the country.
Paving the way for implementing UCC
He said that the Jan Sangh established by Dr. Mukherjee is today working as BJP according to his policies in more than two-thirds of the country’s geographical area and population. On this occasion, Shah underlined the policies of the BJP government of Bengal and said, a committee has been formed to pave the way for implementing UCC in the state.
Referring to the passing of the West Bengal Anti-Social Activities (Amendment) Bill-2026 by the Assembly, he said that this is proof that the government is working on its promise to deal with the problem of law and order. Amit Shah said that we had promised decisive action against criminals and this law is the first step towards fulfilling that promise.
Process to identify intruders begins
The Union Home Minister said that the process of identifying the infiltrators and sending them back has also started. He said, we will identify every infiltrator and secure the country. Targeting women voters, Amit Shah said that the recently formed Durga Security Squad will strengthen the security of women in the entire state.
A large part of Amit Shah’s speech was focused on informing about Mukherjee’s resignation from the first cabinet of independent India over the Nehru-Liaquat Pact. This incident has been an important part of BJP’s discussion about the founder of Jan Sangh. He said that today is an emotional day for many people like me. Dr. Mukherjee sacrificed his life to integrate Kashmir with India.
injustice to hindus
Amit Shah recalled Mukherjee’s opposition to the Nehru-Liaquat Pact, saying that the former minister considered it unfair to the Hindus left in East Pakistan. He said that I have seen his resignation letter from the first cabinet. When Dr. Mukherjee studied the agreement, he found that it talked about the living of Muslims in India, but there was no mention of the concerns of Hindus living in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He called it one-sided and decided to resign from the cabinet.
took care of the concerns of Muslims
During his address, Amit Shah reiterated that Mukherjee believed that the concerns of Muslims in India were taken into account in this agreement, but Hindus in Pakistan were ignored. Drawing a connection between that incident and the current policies of BJP, Amit Shah said that the party has taken action on the concerns of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee through CAA. He said that today the government of the same party has brought CAA to give citizenship to the persecuted Hindus.
Specially targeting the large number of refugees present in West Bengal, Amit Shah said that the process of granting citizenship will be expedited. He said that today I want to say from this platform that we will soon complete the remaining formalities for granting citizenship, because there is a BJP government in West Bengal.
There is also mention of removal of Article 370
The Union Home Minister also mentioned the removal of Article 370 and described it as the fulfillment of another long-standing wish of Mukherjee. He said that PM Modi fulfilled the resolution of Dr. Mukherjee and abolished Article 370. Today Kashmir is an integral part of India.
Taking aim at the Congress, the Union Home Minister alleged that successive governments never allowed a proper investigation into Mukherjee’s death in Kashmir in 1953. He claimed that Congress never allowed the investigation into the mysterious circumstances of Dr. Mukherjee’s death. Shah said that Mukherjee believed that India’s development model should be based on its own civilizational values rather than borrowing from the West.
Mukherjee founded Jana Sangh
The Union Home Minister said that when Mukherjee had founded the Jana Sangh, he had resolved that India’s pride would not increase merely by changing the government. The policies of independent India should be prepared with the fragrance of India’s own soil, which should not have the shadow of the West. He said that approach is reflected in Modi’s governance model.
Amit Shah said that adopting this principle, Prime Minister Modi has embarked on the journey of strengthening the foundation of India, creating a fully developed India by 2047 and ensuring that the flag of our culture flies highest in the entire world.
