Earlier, American media outlet Axios had done a report. According to this, on Sunday (June 14), Trump had called a meeting of senior officials. In this meeting, Hegseth and John Ratcliffe opposed the Iran deal. However, Trump decided to make a deal.
War begins at Hegseth’s behest
While talking to a journalist at the end of March 2026, Donald Trump said – Hegseth was at the forefront of those who wanted war against Iran. They will also have to take responsibility for this. The war was started only at the behest of Hegseth.
According to CNN, only Vice President JD Vance in Trump’s team opposed the war. This is why Vance was appointed head of the negotiating team with Iran.
Questions have also been raised on Hegseth in the US Congress. Many Democratic MPs have also prepared to bring a no-confidence motion against Hegseth. However, due to lack of required numbers, this proposal has not come forward yet.
Trump’s team divided into two factions on Iran deal
According to the report, there is a split in Trump’s team regarding the deal with Iran. On one hand, Hegseth, Ratcliffe and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio are against the agreement. On the other hand, JD Vance, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have supported the agreement.
It was because of Vance and Witkoff that America left Israel alone in the Iran deal, due to which there is news of rift between Netanyahu and Trump.
Trump publicly criticized Israel in Paris on Tuesday. Trump said that Syria can fight against Hezbollah better than Israel. Syria is considered an enemy country of Israel.
