June 1, 2026 by Uma Shankar

In Bihar, politics is heated over the official bungalow of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi. People also call this bungalow allotted to Rabri Devi as unlucky. It is said that whoever lives in this bungalow is unable to become a minister again. At the same time his political influence also ends. Today the politics of Bihar is heated regarding this bungalow. Rabri Devi refused to vacate the government bungalow located at 10 Circular, VVIP area of Patna.

In fact, the bungalow at 39 Harding Road which has been allotted to Rabri Devi is considered unlucky in political circles. Bhupendra Prasad Verma from RJD lived in this bungalow. Shamim Ahmed from RJD, Madan Mohan Jha from Congress, Chandra Mohan Rai from BJP, Vinod Narayan Jha and Ramsurat Rai stayed as ministers in this bungalow. But then he could never become a minister. That means the one who shifted to the bungalow did not become a minister again. Political status also gradually declined. At present, there is a tussle between the Samrat government and Rabri Devi regarding this bungalow.

Challenge to Rabri Devi’s government

Rabri Devi has been allotted residence at 39 Harding Road. The government sent her a circular 10 notice to vacate the bungalow but she was not ready to leave the house. Rabri has clearly said that she will not vacate the bungalow under any circumstances. DSP of Patna Secretariat reached Rabri residence with the police force but seeing his stubborn attitude, she also returned. That is, there was no result of pressure from the administrative level.

Bungalow is a big power center of Lalu-Rabri family and party

This bungalow located at 10 Circular has been a big power center for the Lalu-Rabri family and Rashtriya Janata Dal for the last two decades. Citing rules, the government has allotted this bungalow in the name of new cabinet minister Nand Kishore Ram, but Rabri Devi is not ready to leave the house. She is saying that the government should evacuate through force. Whereas Minister Nand Kishore Ram is giving Dalit angle in this.

Nand Kishore Ram says, “I am a Dalit, that is why the bungalow is not being vacated.” Bihar government minister Lacey Singh says that as per the rules, Rabri Devi should vacate the house. The government will ensure that the process is followed as per rules.

RJD said retaliatory action

The politics of Bihar is very heated regarding Rabri Devi’s bungalow. While RJD is calling it an act of revenge, the government is citing rules. Similarly, questions are also being raised that when Nand Kishore Ram was allotted a bungalow on Harding Road after becoming the minister, then why was there a need to allot him a new government bungalow after a few days. Rabri Devi’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav has also given his reaction regarding this matter. He said that first vacate Nitish Kumar’s bungalow.
