
UP Police has taken major action in the Ram Mandir donation theft case. In this case, the police has raided the homes of all the 8 accused. Police have recovered some jewelery and documents from Tinnu’s house. Apart from this, some cash and property documents have also been recovered. During the raid, statements of the families of all the accused were recorded. It is being told that an assessment will be made by evening as to what has been recovered and at night the police will decide whether police remand of the accused should be taken tomorrow or not.
Police have raided the ancestral homes of accused Anukalp Mishra and Lavkush Mishra in Milkipur rural area and their family members have also been interrogated at the residence of investigator Ramashankar Mishra. According to sources, the police have recovered some important documents from the house of Ramashankar Mishra, the investigation of which is going on.
Investigation handed over to SIT on June 13
In fact, the controversy over alleged embezzlement in donations to the Ram temple came to light on June 7, when Samajwadi Party leader Tej Narayan ‘Pawan’ Pandey claimed that an amount ranging from Rs 5 crore to Rs 7.5 crore had been embezzled from the offerings in the temple. After this, following the request of the temple trust, the Uttar Pradesh government formed a special investigation team (SIT) on June 13. The SIT conducted a preliminary investigation in Ayodhya from June 15 to 20 and found prima facie irregularities in the management of cash and valuables allegedly donated by devotees.
FIR against 8 named accused
On the basis of investigation, FIR was registered against 8 named accused under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code and Prevention of Corruption Act. Those arrested include Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu along with Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Subhash Srivastava, Ramashankar Mishra, Manish Yadav and Karunesh Pandey. Anukalp Mishra and Lavkush Mishra are relatives of each other and are also relatives of Anil Mishra.
