The condition of Yamuna river in Delhi is bad. Generally, if we look at a river, only water is visible far and wide, but if we look at Yamuna in the capital Delhi, we can see only white foam spread far and wide. TV9 went to the ground and investigated it itself, which revealed that the view of Yamuna at this time is similar to that in Antarctica, Alaska. Big icebergs float in the water. Actually, at first glance this foam looks like a snowy area, but the reality is completely opposite and is horrifying. This foam is clearly testifying to the deteriorating health of Yamuna.
Tall buildings have been built on the banks of Yamuna and those who buy houses in these buildings would have ever thought that they will get a river view. They got a river view, but it was much ‘better’ than they had imagined. Every effort was made to provide a snow view along with the river view and along with the snow view, it should be given such a feeling that you are in Antarctica, Alaska and if it is hot, then imagine that you are in a hill station, because this foam that looks like snow is not an ordinary foam. This is the house of disease. This is the danger that either no one is talking about or does not want to talk about.
This is the same Yamuna, on whose banks lakhs of people gather during Chhath Puja and take bath in it. This time many ministers themselves also took a dip in Yamuna, but is it Yamuna or just a drain? Its condition is worse than a drain. The surprising thing is that even after the rains in Delhi, the condition of Yamuna river is so bad that instead of the water being clear, only foam is visible all around.
After all, is this foam floating in Yamuna?
Actually, this foam in Yamuna river is formed due to the filth falling from the untreated sewage plant. Experts have said that more than 60 percent of Delhi’s sewage is never treated because Delhi does not have such resources available. There is no technology available that can treat the entire sewage. There are so many slums in Delhi, there are so many slums in Delhi, there are unauthorized houses which have no records, where untreated sewage directly falls into Yamuna which is creating this condition of Yamuna. There are factories in Delhi, there are industries in Delhi. The dirty water there, the dirty seepage, the dirty chemicals are being released into this river without treating it.
More than Rs 2500 crore allocated for cleaning Yamuna
When the government figures were found out, it was found that in the last 10 years, many governments have come and many governments have gone, more than Rs 2.5 thousand crores were allocated for the cleaning of Yamuna. Cleanliness campaigns were also carried out, but the situation remains the same today. Yamuna is there, but Yamuna will have to be found. This Yamuna has to be saved from poisonous foam.
Only 2 percent share of Yamuna in Delhi
Although Yamuna river is quite long, only 2 percent of it flows in Delhi. Out of the total 1376 kilometers, only 2 percent has to be cleaned. In such a situation, the question is why the Yamuna passing through the country’s capital cannot be made clean and hygienic? If effective steps are not taken in time, this crisis may deepen further.
