
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a state visit to Seychelles from June 27 to 29 and will attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles National Day as ‘Guest of Honour’. PM Modi last visited Seychelles in the year 2015, that is, after 11 years he will visit Seychelles again. Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminy will welcome him. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that a contingent of Indian Defense Forces will also accompany two ships of the Indian Navy to participate in the ceremony.
During this visit, Prime Minister Modi will talk to Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie and review all aspects of bilateral cooperation. The two leaders will also discuss the Indian Ocean region, maritime security and other regional and global issues. PM Modi will also address the National Assembly of Seychelles and interact with members of the Indian expatriate community.
Seychelles is an important maritime partner of India
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Seychelles is an important maritime partner of India in the Indian Ocean region. As such, Seychelles has an important role in India’s Vision Ocean (reciprocal and inclusive advancement for regional security and development) and its commitment to the Global South. The objective of this visit is to further strengthen India-Seychelles historical, cultural and strategic relations. Overall, the visit will further strengthen the strong and enduring friendship between India and Seychelles and reinforce the shared commitment of both countries to enhance bilateral relations in all areas.
Seychelles President came to India in February
Earlier in February 2026, PM Modi had met Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie at Hyderabad House. President Harmini had come on a state visit to India, under which he reached Delhi after completing his programs in Chennai and Mumbai. His visit lasted till 10 February and it was his first visit to India after becoming the President in October 2025. Even then, the External Affairs Ministry had stressed the strategic importance of Seychelles for India, describing the island nation as a key maritime neighbor and a key partner in India’s Vision Ocean and underlined Delhi’s commitment to cooperation with the Global South.
