Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on phone with Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian on Tuesday. During this, there was a detailed discussion between the two leaders regarding the current situation of the area and the future situation. During his conversation with the Iranian President, Prime Minister Modi welcomed the ceasefire in the region and efforts to reduce tension. Also reiterated India’s point that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. PM Narendra Modi has shared this information by posting on his social media handle X. Welcomed the progress made in the talks and expressed hope that continued efforts will bring lasting peace in the region. The importance of freedom of movement in the Strait of Hormuz for India and the world has been reiterated.

Peace and stability necessary in West Asia

PM Modi said that along with ensuring lasting peace and stability in West Asia, he stressed the need for continuous efforts for uninterrupted security of maritime (Hormuz) movement and global trade. India has always believed that peace and stability in West Asia is very important not only for that region but for the economic and strategic security of the entire world.

PM Modi spoke to Iranian President twice amid conflict

The avenues of dialogue between the two countries are open, ranging from discussions between heads of government to ministers’ meetings and talks within the framework of BRICS. In these talks, attention was paid to the changing situation in the region and the need for peace, stability and dialogue was emphasized.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar remains in touch with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and both have talked more than five times. Recently, Iran had also sent an invitation to PM Modi to attend the funeral program of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. On which it has been said from the Indian side to send the Governor of Bihar to this program.
