
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached France on Saturday, where he will hold talks with President Emmanuel Macron and also attend the G-7 summit. He will participate in major programs focused on innovation with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations. PM Modi reached Nice on the first leg of his five-day visit to France and Slovakia.
PM Modi was welcomed by French Education Minister Edouard Geffre, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Space Philippe Baptiste, French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathew, Nice Mayor Eric Ciotti and other persons at Nice Côte da Azur Airport.
PM Modi said in a post on social media, I have reached Nice. In this trip to France, apart from Nice, there will also be programs in Evian and Paris. There will be bilateral and multilateral meetings, the aim of which is to further strengthen India’s friendship with important development partners. He said that I am eagerly waiting to meet French President Macron and participate in the ‘Bharat Innovates’ program.
In the first leg of his visit, PM Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with Macron today and also inaugurate his ‘Bharat Innovates’ initiative. Top innovation startups and venture capital funds from India, France and other countries will come together in this program. The two leaders will review all aspects of India-France bilateral relations, which were elevated to the level of ‘Special Global Strategic Partnership’ earlier this year.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a social media post that this visit will provide an opportunity to further strengthen India-France cooperation in important areas. PM Modi was warmly welcomed by the people of the Indian community. They gathered there in large numbers waving the tricolor and raising slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai.
PM Modi said in a post, memorable welcome from the Indian community in Nice. They may be many kilometers away from home, but our expatriate community’s bond with India remains as strong as ever. In honor of PM Modi’s arrival, the tricolor was hoisted at the City Hall, the mayor’s office of Nice, which is considered a rare respectful step for a foreign leader. After the tour of France, PM Modi will go to Slovakia on a state visit on 14-15 June.
