During heat waves, plants need more water, proper space and extra care. Keeping the leaves of plants in strong sunlight for a long time can burn and their growth can also be affected. Especially the effects of heat are quickly visible on the plants growing in the balcony, terrace or garden. In such a situation, let us know what are the tips on how you can take care of your plants during the heat wave.
Give “cooling water therapy” to plants early in the morning.
Drying and withering of plants is common during heat waves. But to make it healthy, you can adopt some methods, one of which is cooling water therapy. This means watering the plant in the morning or evening. Because during a heat wave, watering plants in the afternoon can cause the soil to heat up quickly, so try to water early in the morning or in the evening. Cold water in the morning provides relief to the roots of the plants and helps in maintaining moisture throughout the day. If you want, you can also add a little buttermilk in water, this keeps the soil cool.
Apply coconut coir or dry grass on pots
In strong sunlight and heat, the soil of plants starts drying up very quickly, due to which frequent watering is not possible. In such a situation, spread dry grass, coconut coir or dry leaves on the soil of the pot. It acts as a kind of natural layer, due to which the soil does not dry quickly and the plants remain fresh for a long time.

Make indigenous “green shed” for plants
It is very important to protect plants from strong sunlight. Because due to this the leaves of the plant get burnt and dry up. To protect them from strong sunlight, create a light shade over the plants with the help of old cotton scarf, jute sack or green net. This will provide relief to the plants from direct sunlight and they can avoid withering.
Give banana peel water once a week
In summer, plants need not only water but also nutrition. Soak banana peels in water overnight and pour that water on the plants the next day. The potassium present in it can help in strengthening the plants and reduce the damage caused by heat.
Spray light mist on leaves
The leaves of plants start drying quickly in heat wave. In such a situation, sprinkle light water from a spray bottle once a day. This cools the leaves and makes the plants feel fresh. But keep in mind that do not spray too much water, otherwise the problem of fungus may occur.
