
All 12 people on board died when a small plane crashed in Missouri, America. This accident happened near Butler Memorial Airport, where a fire broke out after the plane fell. As soon as information about the accident was received, the relief and rescue team reached the spot. But no one could be saved. Officials said that a plane carrying passengers going for skydiving crashed in Missouri on Sunday, killing all 12 people on board.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a statement that its officers were at the scene and were assisting the Butler Police Department and Bates County Sheriff’s Office. This crash happened near Butler Memorial Airport. Butler is about 65 miles south of Kansas City.
The flight was filled for skydiving
Sergeant Justin Ewing of the Missouri Highway Patrol said that the plane was taking people up for skydiving. He said that at around 11:30 am on Sunday, the emergency service received information that a plane had crashed and caught fire. Ewing said that emergency service personnel were able to extinguish the fire shortly after the crash. He described the incident as ‘terrible’. “It landed in a field near the airport, but I think the road is being closed as a precaution,” Ewing said. He said the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
The plane was built in 2010
The Pacific Aerospace 750XL that crashed is a single-engine turboprop plane model. It is not only famous for skydiving, but has also proved useful in other tasks like cargo, aerial survey and medical evacuation flights. This aircraft can carry 17 skydivers and is capable of take-off and landing from short runways. According to FAA records, the plane that crashed on Saturday was made in 2010.
Butler’s population is around 4,300
Ewing said that about 30 aircraft use this small airport, which is private. These include crop dusting companies and skydive operators. Ewing said the small town of Butler has a population of about 4,300, while Bates County has about 17,000 people. No information was immediately available about the age or hometown of those killed in the crash. Skydiving companies operate in this area for eight or nine months a year. Their season usually starts in late March or early April and continues till October or November.
