
Pink tickets will be banned in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses from August 1 in Delhi. From August 1, women will be able to travel free in DTC buses only through Pink Saheli NCMC card. According to the Delhi government, till now 15 lakh Pick Saheli smart cards have been made in Delhi and even after August 1, the process of making them will continue at different centres.
Delhi government In a statement issued by DTC, it has been said that from August 1, women traveling in DTC buses will have to mandatorily keep and tap the Pink Saheli Smart Card to continue availing the benefits of the Free Bus Travel Scheme.
This decision of the Rekha Gupta government has come at a time when it has decided to gradually phase out the existing paper-based pink tickets.
Women will get free pink tickets only till 31st July
According to a DTC circular, eligible female passengers will continue to get paper pink tickets till July 31. However, from August 1, free travel will be available only to those women who have a valid Pink Saheli Smart Card (NCMC) and who will tap it while boarding cluster buses run by DTC and Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS).
The circular states that passengers who do not have a smart card will not get pink tickets after July 31 and will instead have to buy regular tickets and pay the applicable fare.
For Saheli Pink Card How apply
It is written on the Saheli Pink Card website: Pink Card Delhi Application Process (Offline) has started from 3 March 2026. As of now, there is no option to apply for DTC Pink Card online — you can get your card made only at DC offices, SDM offices, or authorized DTC centers across Delhi. Pink Ticket Scheme was started in Arvind Kejriwal government for free travel of women in DTC buses.
