PHOTOS: Such moments captured on camera during NEET-UG movement, which people are watching again and again

July 23, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Protests under the banner of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gained momentum in many cities across the country over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. Thousands of students, parents and supporters took to the streets and demanded clarity in the exam process, fixing responsibilities and reforms in the education system. Demonstrations took place in many cities including Mumbai and Patna. At some places there were scuffles between the police and the Protestants, at some places there were reports of detentions, at some places long marches were taken out, but amidst all this, the videos that were most discussed on social media were those which gave a different identity to this movement.
A video that surfaced from Mumbai became the most viral. In this, 27-year-old model Riya Ahir is seen standing in front of a police van. It was told that this scene was seen after some protesters were detained near Shivaji Park. In the video, Rhea stands in front of the police van with both her hands and refuses to move away. The van moves slowly, but Riya does not move from her place. Within some time, other protesters present nearby also gather there and finally the vehicle stops.
Another video from Mumbai became a topic of discussion among the people. In this, a protestor runs towards the police vehicle in which the detained students and protesters are sitting. He opens the rear lock of the vehicle. After a few moments, many people are seen coming out of the van, while the people present around them welcome them with applause. There has been no official response from Mumbai Police regarding this incident, but this video spread very fast on social media and became the center of discussion among the people.
A video also surfaced from Dadar area of Mumbai which won the hearts of people. The protesters were marching on the road when their convoy passed in front of a school. The children present inside the school premises started waving enthusiastically and greeting the protesters. In response, the protesters also smiled and waved towards the children and then continued their journey. This short moment of just a few seconds was liked a lot on social media.
Amidst all this, a video that surfaced from Mizoram was successful in attracting people's attention for a completely different reason. Here the students demonstrated in a very calm and disciplined manner. There was no violence seen in the video, no damage to any public or government property, nor any clash with the police. The protesters appeared to be putting forth their demands peacefully.
This video was highly appreciated on social media. Many people wrote that movement is a medium to express one's views and the students of Mizoram showed that one's voice can be raised strongly even without violence and vandalism. Many users commented that Northeast India has once again set an example of peaceful and responsible civic participation.
