
The prices of petrol and diesel have been increased once again in the country. Oil prices have been increased for the fourth time in the last 11 days. Due to increase of Rs 2.61 in the price of petrol, its price per liter in Delhi has become Rs 102.12. For the first time in the country, the price of petrol has crossed the Rs 100 mark. Whereas the price of diesel has been increased by Rs 2.71 per liter, thus now diesel will be available for Rs 95.20.
The prices of petrol and diesel were increased for the first time on May 15 after the crisis started in the Middle East, when the prices of both the fuels were increased by Rs 3 per liter. After this, on May 19, it was increased by about 90 paise per liter. Then oil prices were increased on Saturday. Now for the fourth time the price of petrol and diesel has been increased by more than Rs 2.
Due to this, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased last week also. Oil prices were increased for the third time on Saturday in less than 10 days. Then the price of petrol was increased by 87 paise per liter while the price of diesel was increased by 91 paise per liter. After this increase, within 10 days the prices of petrol and diesel increased by about five rupees per liter across the country.
Along with petrol and diesel, the price of CNG, which is used as vehicle fuel, has also been increased by one rupee per kilogram on Saturday. In this way, after the third increase in the last few days, the price of CNG increased by a total of Rs 4 per kg.
Amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia, with the rising prices of crude oil in the international market, public sector petroleum companies are continuously increasing the retail prices of fuel. However, before May 15, the prices of petrol and diesel were not increased for a long time.
The prices of CNG are also continuously increasing. Re 1 per liter was increased on Saturday. Then the price of CNG in Delhi increased from Rs 80.09 to Rs 81.09 per kg. CNG prices increased for the third time in less than 10 days. For the first time on May 15, it was increased by Rs 2 per kg and then on May 17, it was increased by Rs 1 per kg. After this, with the third increase on May 23, CNG has increased by Rs 4 per kg.
The Strait of Hormuz, an important sea route for the movement of oil globally, has been blocked due to the conflict that broke out between the two sides in the Gulf region after the attack on Iran by America and Israel on February 28. Due to this, global prices of crude oil have increased by more than 50 percent.
