
The ongoing controversy regarding ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) has now reached the Supreme Court. In this matter, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court, in which a demand has been made to conduct an independent investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against people associated with CJP and register an FIR against them. This petition has come at a time when the controversy regarding CJP is at its peak on social media.
In the petition filed, serious allegations have been made like use of fake law degree, use of someone else’s identity and misuse of the institutional identity of the Supreme Court. The petitioner alleges that these people misled the public by claiming to be lawyers or legal experts, thereby damaging the credibility of the judicial process. The petition has appealed to the CBI to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged use of fake degrees and the criminal conspiracy involved.
Action against cockroach party
This issue came into limelight after Chief Justice Surya Kant’s comments about those attacking the system. On the instructions of the Central Government and based on a report by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), CJP’s official ‘X’ (earlier Twitter) handle was blocked in India on Thursday. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) took this action under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. Intelligence agencies had accused the CJP of spreading “provocative” material and challenging the sovereignty of the country.
What is Cockroach Janata Party?
‘Cockroach Janata Party’ is a satirical and meme-based digital movement started by Boston University student Abhijit Dipke. He describes himself as “the voice of the unemployed youth. Over the past week, the movement has gone viral, especially among Gen Z youth. It has gained millions of followers across various platforms. Soon after the ban, Abhijeet Dipke started a new handle ‘Cockroach is Back’ and appealed to his supporters to join it.

Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke said that after several account deletions and hacking incidents, the organization no longer has access to any of its social media accounts. He claimed that his personal Instagram account has also been hacked. Deepke wrote on ‘X’: “Action has been taken against Cockroach Janata Party. Instagram page has been hacked. My personal Instagram account has also been hacked. Twitter account has been suspended. Backup account has also been suspended.”
He further said that, at present, he is not able to use his social media accounts. Therefore, any subsequent post should not be considered as an official statement of CJP. The website of the organization (cockroachjanataparty.org) has also been closed.
