Shreyas Iyer On Online Abuse: Punjab Kings could not make it to the playoffs in IPL 2026. After the team’s defeat, an old video of captain Shreyas Iyer’s sister Shrestha Iyer has again become a topic of discussion on social media. In this video, Shrestha was seen with some supporters of Punjab Kings. It is about the match which was to be played between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The entire match was canceled due to heavy rain and both the teams got 1-1 point. Soon after the match was cancelled, Shrestha posted a video in which she and Punjab supporters were seen dancing and made fun of that one point by calling it a ‘donation’ for KKR. Due to which Shrestha Iyer had to face heavy trolling on social media. In response to this, Shrestha herself has responded to the trolls by releasing 2 videos.
Limits crossed with Shreyas Iyer’s sister
After facing continuous trolling, Shrestha Iyer has now shared two videos on social media. In these he has expressed his anger against trolls. In the video, Shrestha clearly said, ‘People are saying now, do you have anything to say? I have a lot. In the video I made, you made a small thing seem so big. According to me, it was fun banter, not trolling. There was no wrong intention behind this. I was just supporting my brother’s team. This does not mean at all that I hate any team or player. I respect all the players a lot because my brother is also a cricketer.

Shrestha also launched a scathing attack on frustrated and jobless users. He said that such people are leaving very dirty messages in his comment section. Not only this, they are also abusing his colleagues, students and family members by calling his office. They are harassing you by calling at strange times. Ushreshtha Iyer further said, ‘Whenever a cricketer’s team loses, you blame his family members. Fans start blaming players’ wives or their sisters for a team’s defeat. Winning or losing is part of the game and whenever my brother wins, I will celebrate.

How did Punjab Kings get out of the playoff race?
The start of Punjab Kings in IPL 2026 was quite explosive. The team had not faced a single defeat in the first 7 matches and was continuously on top. But suddenly there was a huge decline in the team’s performance. Punjab Kings lost 6 consecutive matches, due to which the path to the playoffs became difficult for them. Punjab Kings definitely won their last league match, but 15 points were not enough to make it to the playoffs.
