Peddi Review: Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’ is not just a film, it is a slap on the face of the system! Read full review

June 4, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Peddi Review In Hindi: Ever since ‘RRR’ created a pan India sensation, people across the country were keeping an eye on what new blast Ram Charan is going to do on the screen. Seeing the hype that was created since the trailer of ‘Peddi’ came out, the expectations were sky high. Ram Charan himself had claimed that this is going to be the best and most different film of his career so far and after seeing it, after coming out of the theatre, one thing can be said directly – what Ram Charan had said has proved to be absolutely true.

Movie ‘Peddi’ The hard work he has put in for this clearly shines in every frame of the screen. When this 3-hour long film ends, you do not just come out after watching a cinema, but leave with a heavy feeling in your heart. Apart from this, it is also an amazing sports drama, which shakes you to the core due to the message associated with it.

What is the story of ‘Peddi’?

The story begins with the character of Boman Irani, a government officer associated with the Sports Ministry, who is troubled by the drought of Olympic medals in this country with a population of more than 130 crores. When this officer goes out in search of grassroots talent to hoist the country’s flag at the international level. Then this path takes him to Peddi. On one side we see Boman’s journey, while on the other side Peddi’s story begins on the screen.

This is the story of a part of the country where the heart trembles just by seeing the truth. A village where people survive only on daily wage labour. They are called ‘Pahadia’, that is, those tribal people living in the mountains, who have no identity in this modern world. Forget identity, they neither have any voter ID card, nor any census in the Gram Panchayat, nor any vote bank. And when you do not have the power to vote, then the system of this country considers you an insect. This is the reason why they are considered untouchable, kept away from human rights and paid daily wages at throwaway wages in exchange for hard work. Our hero ‘Peddi’ (Ram Charan).

Now on one side there is the yearning of an officer who has set out to find talent for the country, and on the other side there is a fight for the existence of Peddi. What is Peddi’s dream? How does he show mastery over three sports at once? And will the world of sports be able to give a new identity to its entire society? To know this you will have to go to the theatre.

How is Ram Charan’s film ‘Peddi’?

Simply put, ‘Peddi’ is a film completely full of mass entertainment. Like every Pan-India film, in this too you will get whistle-blowing scenes, strong action and dance that will make you dance. But what makes this film stand apart from the crowd of other films is its point of view.

‘Pushpa’ fame Sukumar has woven this story. The earthy smell and sharpness of Sukumar’s pen is fully present here too. Director Buchi Babu Sana has given his entire life in bringing this story on screen. Those who go to the theater just to pass time, this film knocks the closed doors of their minds. The length of the film is 3 hours, which may seem a bit long in today’s times, but this length is not at all surprising compared to the strong message hidden within the film.

Direction and writing are strong but there is one thing missing?

The director and writer should get full marks for the way they have shown the transition of a poor, destitute tribal boy to become a sports star. Janhvi Kapoor’s character is also small but effective. However, one thing is definitely missing here. If the director had kept Jhanvi’s clothes a little less over-exposed and adapted her look a little more to the rural environment, then this character could have risen to a higher level.

With the acting strength that Janhvi has, she could win people’s hearts just on the basis of her acting, even without wearing such strange clothes. Well, despite this, the rest of the film, the action sequences, background music and dance steps are so amazing that you easily ignore the shortcomings.

Who won hearts in terms of acting?

Another name of this film should be ‘The Ram Charan Show’. The film has an army of strong actors like Divyendu Sharma, Upendra Limaye, Ravi Kishan and Boman Irani and everyone has done complete justice to their characters. Be it Ravi Kishan’s desi style or Boman Irani’s acting, it helps us stay connected to the film. But from beginning to end, this film rests entirely on the shoulders of Ram Charan. His dialogue delivery, his action, his facial expressions, his dance swag and his eyes in emotional scenes, everything is amazing. The way he has done his physical transformation for every sport is amazing, overall it would not be wrong at all to say that this is the best performance of Ram Charan’s entire career so far. He has not only played this role, but also lived it.

After all, should one watch this film or not?

Now coming to the biggest and bitterest issue, which becomes a slap on our face through this film. We and you, who sit in glittering cities and in air-conditioned rooms and talk about the progress of the country, are never able to imagine where and under what conditions the real India is living. These days we have started talking about farmers, but what about the tribals living in the mountains and forests, who are not even considered citizens of this country?

A very sharp and shocking truth has been shown in ‘Peddi’. It is said that during the British era, where officers or governors used to stop trains and come down to urinate, huge railway stations were built, we can see those stations even today, but the value of the people whose blood and sweat is mixed in this soil is probably less than the urine of this British, hence they do not even get a railway station. Today in our country there is a national bird, a national animal, they are counted, they are protected, but in our own country, some humans living in tribes still have no identity.

Even today, there are about 18,000 such villages or hamlets in our country which do not have any Gram Panchayat, which do not get any medical facilities, where there are no roads or electricity. If there is a landslide or any natural disaster, these people die like insects because they have no Aadhaar card, no paper. Why? Because no one will get votes from them! The film talks about many issues which we would never have thought about.

final decision

‘Peddi’ is not a film to just go to the theater and chew popcorn and have three hours of fun. The thinking behind this is far above every limit of entertainment. This film serves you such a bitter truth with a tinge of entertainment that after watching it, your eyes will become moist and you will also get angry towards the system.

If you are a fan of Ram Charan, then this is no less than a festival for you and sometimes some films should also be watched for the message related to it.
