People of the Muslim community across the country are busy preparing for the festival of Bakrid. Goats are being purchased for sacrifice. At many places, news of cow sacrifice also comes to light, due to which social harmony deteriorates and tension increases. Meanwhile, before Eid-ul-Azha, the statement of Muslim organization All India Pasmanda Ulema Board (AIPUB) has come out. AIPUB has appealed to the people of the community to avoid cow sacrifice. The organization says that in view of the current legal restrictions and the possibility of social tension, it would be more appropriate to sacrifice other animals.
AIPUB Board chief Maulana Dr. Ubaidullah Qasmi, in response to a question on the issue of animal sacrifice on Sunday (May 24), said that in Islam, sacrifice is an important part of worship and in Shariat, cow is included among the animals which can be sacrificed.
‘Do not sacrifice cow’
However, he clarified that if there is a legal ban by the government in any area or if there is a possibility of such sacrifice causing communal tension, violence, riots or threat to the life and property of the Muslim community, then following the law and sacrificing another animal would be considered a more correct and wise decision. He said that in circumstances where legal restrictions exist or there is a possibility of unrest, it is appropriate to refrain from sacrificing a cow. He appealed to the people of the community not to sacrifice the cow.
Emphasis on maintaining law and peace
Ubaidullah Qasmi said that Islam teaches peace, understanding and social responsibility. In such a situation, where there is a possibility of any kind of dispute or unrest, the community should exercise restraint. He said that religious tradition can also be followed by sacrificing other legitimate animals.
Sacrifices are made all over the world
Eid-ul-Azha, also known as Bakrid, is one of the major festivals of Islam. This festival is celebrated in memory of the faith and dedication of Prophet Ibrahim. Muslims all over the world sacrifice legal animals as per the laws and local rules of their respective countries.
