Pankaj Bhadauria was an English teacher in a school in Lucknow for the last 16 years. Teaching was his profession, but cooking was his biggest passion. In 2010, when ‘MasterChef India’ started for the first time in India, Pankaj also decided to audition for it. But as soon as he was selected, his school management put a condition before him which made the ground slip from under his feet. Pankaj had received an ultimatum from the school – “Either leave the show, or leave your job.”

On one hand, Pankaj had a secure and well-established career of 16 years, he had a family and a good life, while on the other hand there was an unknown path like ‘MasterChef’ where there was no guarantee of success.
