Panchamrit: What is Panchamrit, without which the worship of Lord Vishnu is incomplete?

June 13, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Panchamrit Puja Tips: In religious scriptures, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu has been described as Jagpalak i.e. the deity who is the protector of the world. Lord Vishnu has taken many incarnations for the welfare of the world. The fast of Ekadashi has been dedicated to God. There is a religious belief that by fasting on Ekadashi, one attains salvation and a place in Vaikuntha Dham after death. Lord Vishnu is worshiped in a very special way.

Any religious ritual or puja related to Shri Hari Vishnu is not complete without offering Panchamrit to him. Without Panchamrit, worship is considered incomplete and its results are not achieved. Panchamrit has special religious significance. The tradition of offering it as an offering to Lord Vishnu from Satyanarayan to the worship of Shri Krishna incarnation has been going on since ancient times. Let us know what is Panchamrit Bhog?

What is Panchamrit and how is it made?

Panchamrit is a mixture of five things. All these five things are very auspicious and their special religious importance has been mentioned in the religious scriptures. These five things are cow’s milk, curd, cow’s ghee, honey and sugar. Bhog is made by mixing all these things in a certain quantity. Then it is kept in a pure vessel and offered to God. When Panchamrit is offered to Lord Vishnu and his incarnations, Tulsi is added to it.

According to beliefs, without Tulsi plant or its leaves, God does not accept Panchamrit or any other offering. Apart from this, one should never insult Panchamrit. The virtues of those who do this are destroyed and their sins increase.

Rules for making Panchamrit

Panchamrit should be prepared before sunset. To make this, only cow’s milk should be used. Tulsi dal and Ganga water must be added to it.

Take these precautions while taking Panchamrit

Panchamrit should always be taken with both hands. Panchamrit should not be spilled on the ground even by mistake. After taking Panchamrit, one should touch one’s head with both hands.
