
105 people have been killed in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province in the last one week. Pak Army claims that all those killed were terrorists. It is being told that 71 of these terrorists were killed during ‘Operation Shaban’, which started on July 7. Pakistani defense officials shared this information with the media on Sunday. Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) and Balochistan Police jointly conducted this operation.
According to PTI report, violence in Balochistan, which has been facing unrest for almost two decades, has increased in recent months. Baloch insurgents and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists are targeting security forces. Official sources said that 109 terrorists have been killed since July 5, out of which 71 were killed during ‘Operation Shaban’. This operation was jointly conducted by Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) and Balochistan Police.
‘Operation Shaban’ starts on July 7
‘Operation Shaban’ was launched on 7 July. The action was launched after attacks by terrorists earlier in the week, in which several security personnel were killed. This operation is being conducted against terrorists in Shaban area of Quetta district. On July 5, 27 policemen were killed in an attack on the police post located at Mangi Dam Pumping Station in the same area. This pumping station supplies water to Balochistan’s capital Quetta and surrounding areas.
24 hour operation killed 7 terrorists
Defense officials said on Sunday that at least seven more terrorists were killed during the ongoing operation in the last 24 hours. With this the total number of terrorists killed in the operation has increased to 71.
Unrest in Balochistan for two decades
Violence in Balochistan, which has been battling unrest for nearly two decades, has increased in recent months. Here Baloch rebels and Tehreek-e-Taliban terrorists are targeting the security forces of Pakistan.
