PCB Formats Based Central Contract: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a revolutionary and major change in the central contract system of its players. Under the new rules, players will now be given contracts on the basis of their expertise in all three formats of the game (Test, ODI and T-20) instead of their grade (A, B, C, D). The new category has been called Format Tracks in the document of Pakistan Cricket Board. During a press conference, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan coaches Aaqib Javed and Mike Hesson announced this new policy.
Pakistan brought new central contract system
This new format-based system prepared by the Pakistan Cricket Board is divided into four different ‘tracks’. Only those players who are experts in Test cricket will be included in Track A. Track B and C will be for those players who are experts in white ball games i.e. ODI and T-20 formats. At the same time, in Track D, only players playing T-20 and franchise cricket of different countries will be given place.
In the press conference, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the contracts given to the players, there was always a debate on why they were kept in a particular category. Even players felt uncomfortable when they got a category that they were not happy with. We have prepared a document which we are sharing with you, in which 85% of contract related decisions are based on data rather than human process.
Priority to data analysis
To increase transparency and completely eliminate bias in team selection, PCB has announced a surprising formula. He told that now 85 percent of the decisions in the selection of the national team will depend on computer based data analysis. The role of personal recommendations or likes and dislikes of the national selectors will be reduced to only 15 percent. According to PCB, this digital and modern system will ensure that no deserving and talented player of the country is ignored.
