Aam Aadmi Party has given a written complaint in Sansad Marg police station against Satyam Pandit, who assaulted two minor children who were returning home from the Cockrose Janata Party protest at Jantar Mantar. On Tuesday, AAP’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj along with MLA Kuldeep Kumar submitted this complaint to New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma and demanded immediate arrest of Satyam Pandit.
He said that till now the police was making the excuse of not having a written complaint, but now they have no excuse. Along with abusing both the children, Satyam Pandit also tried to incite violence in the name of religion. DCP has assured to take action. If no action is taken then we will approach the court.
Attempt to incite violence in the name of religion
Saurabh Bhardwaj Said that a two-three day old video is going viral on social media in which a man named Satyam Pandit was roaming around in a car with five people. He stopped two minor children from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, one of whom is 16 years old, returning from the protest at Jantar Mantar. Satyam Pandit abused those children, beat them and tried to incite hatred and violence in the name of religion. The victim boys have also told that they probably had weapons with them.
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that it is a matter of shame that despite the video circulating on social media for so many days, Delhi Police was giving a statement in the media that they have not received any complaint yet. In such cases, there is no need for a complaint, the police themselves or the courts can take cognizance and register an FIR.
DCP assured of legal action
Today we have met New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma and given a formal complaint, in which the names of both the boys and the accused have also been given. The DCP has assured of legal action and we hope that the police will arrest the goon today itself. If the police does not take action then we will take the court route.
On the Supreme Court’s comment, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that if institutions like the police and the Supreme Court continue to come forward to protect the rights of the common people, then people will not need to take to the streets. If these institutions become silent then the youth will have no other option but to take to the streets.
Pellet gun use should also be investigated – Saurabh
On the use of pellet guns in the July 20 protest, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that two things should be investigated in this matter. First of all, strict action should be taken against the officer who gave the order for firing from the pellet gun. Secondly, on whose advice was this news suppressed and hidden for these eight days from July 20 till today? The one who was hit with the pellet gun had gone to AIIMS on the very first day and this was recorded in the government’s records. Therefore, it should also be investigated why this matter was stopped for so many days?
Meanwhile, AAP MLA from Kondli Kuldeep Kumar also said that now strict action should be taken in this matter. Because such people work to make people fight in the name of Hindu-Muslim in the country.
