July 8, 2026 by Uma Shankar

A big accident has happened in Pakistan. Aviation officials of Pakistan say that a cargo plane with 5 crew members has suddenly gone missing near the coast of Karachi and the search for it is going on. It is being told that Pakistan’s K2 Airways Boeing 737-400 cargo plane flying from United Arab Emirates (UAE) crashed in the Arabian Sea.

According to the information, the plane lost radar contact during flight about 155 nautical miles west of Karachi. After this, there was a possibility of the plane falling into the sea. According to preliminary data from flight-tracking platform ‘Flight Radar 24’, the plane was seen to fluctuate suddenly in altitude before rapidly descending.

The plane was coming from Sharjah to Karachi

According to Pakistan Airport Authority, yesterday at 9:21 pm local time (4:21 pm GMT) the Boeing 737 descended rapidly and lost contact with air traffic controllers. This plane was going from Sharjah in United Arab Emirates to Karachi. The airport authority said that information was given about the problem of navigation system in the plane just minutes before landing.

At present the cause of the accident has not been known and the search for the crew members is ongoing. There has been no official confirmation from Pakistan yet that anyone has been found alive. This plane was operated by Karachi’s private cargo airline ‘K2 Airways’. According to the company’s website, it was started in 2018.

All crew aboard are from Pakistan

In a statement issued today Wednesday, K2 Airways identified the five crew members on board the plane and said it was “fully cooperating with the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority and other government agencies.” The statement also said that we are praying sincerely for the safety of our comrades.

All the crew members on board the plane were Pakistani citizens. These include Captain Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Jatui, Flight Engineer Muhammad Hameed, Muhammad Arif Siddiqui and Loadmaster Muhammad Taufiq Khan.

After the accident, Pakistan Navy has started a large-scale search and rescue operation. PNS Zulfiqar warship, a ship of Pakistan Shipping Corporation and SAAB Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft have been sent to the spot for the search operation.

The last major incident related to air flight in Pakistan happened 6 years ago in 2020 with a domestic passenger flight. In this accident, a plane of Pakistan International Airlines crashed while reaching Karachi Airport, in which all the passengers except 2 out of 99 people on board died.
