Pakistan took military action near the Afghanistan border on Sunday, in which 29 people died. Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that security forces carried out ground operations and air strikes in the border area after planning in advance on the basis of intelligence information.
According to Attaullah, this action was taken after terrorist attacks on Pakistan Rangers camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Karachi. On Saturday night, terrorists attacked the headquarters of Sindh Rangers located in Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi. Sindh Police Chief Javed Alam Odho said that the terrorists rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the main gate. After this there was heavy firing. In the initial investigation it was not clear whether there was an explosion in the vehicle or not.
Three Pakistani soldiers were killed
Three Pakistani paramilitary and three terrorists were killed in this attack. At the same time, a soldier was shot in the leg and was admitted to the hospital. After the attack, Special Security Unit (SSU), Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF), Rangers and police surrounded the entire area and started the search operation. Rescue 1122 Sindh team also reached the spot and started relief work.
According to Al Jazeera, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has taken responsibility for this attack. This organization is a separate faction of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The organization claims that 9 of its terrorists took part in this attack.
Why tension on PAK-Afghanistan border?
In the last few years, terrorist attacks on police and security forces have increased rapidly in Pakistan. The Pakistan government says that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist organizations associated with it are behind these attacks. TTP is a separate organization from the Afghan Taliban, but both are considered allies of each other. Tension on the border has continuously increased since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021.
Pakistan says that it wants peace, but will not compromise on the security of its citizens. On the other hand, Pakistan continuously alleges that the Afghan Taliban government provides shelter to TTP terrorists, while Afghanistan has been continuously rejecting these allegations.
Afghanistan was also attacked on June 10
Afghanistan says that on June 10, Pakistan had carried out air strikes in Khost, Kunar and Paktika provinces. Of these, 13 people died, which included 11 children, a woman and an elderly person. Pakistan denied this allegation. He says that he did not target any civilian area.
According to Pakistan, the attacks were carried out only on terrorist hideouts, in which 26 terrorists were killed. Since February till now, there have been several retaliatory military actions between the two countries. Hundreds of people have lost their lives in this border conflict. Several rounds of international peace talks took place between the two countries, but till now a permanent ceasefire has not been achieved.
