May 25, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Rohit Sharma Padma Shri Award: The Central Government had announced the names of 131 Padma Award winners on January 25, a day before Republic Day. Of these, 66 celebrities were given Padma Awards by President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. The names of all the big players were included in the list released by the Central Government, in which the name of Indian veteran cricketer Rohit Sharma was also included. But he was not seen during this event, which surprised the fans. However, there is a big reason behind this.

Why did Rohit Sharma not get Padmashree award?

Actually, the winners of Padma Awards are honored in different phases. In this sequence, 66 celebrities of the country were honored in the first phase. The President gave 2 Padma Vibhushan, 6 Padma Bhushan and 58 Padma Shri awards in the first phase. During this, women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was honored with Padma Shri in sports. In such a situation, the news of former Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma being absent from the Padma Shri award ceremony surprised the fans.

However, Rohit could not appear in the first list due to scheduling reasons. In such a situation, he can come to receive honors in the second phase. Let us tell you, Padma Awards are always distributed in several phases. Ceremonies for different batches are organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Those who cannot get time on the first date are called on a later date. Same is the case with Rohit.

Rohit Sharma was busy in IPL 2026

Rohit Sharma’s recent schedule was quite busy, he was playing for Mumbai Indians team in IPL 2026. This season, Rohit played only 9 matches for Mumbai Indians due to injury. In which he scored 283 runs and the average remained only 35.38. Now his eyes are on the ODI series against Afghanistan in June. However, he will take part in this series only when he is completely fit. In such a situation, he may have to pass BCCI’s fitness test before the series.
