
Padma Awards: Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has received a big honour. President Draupadi Murmu honored Harmanpreet Kaur with Padma Shri for her outstanding contribution to the world of cricket in a ceremony organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. This is the fourth highest civilian honor of India. Harmanpreet Kaur is a resident of Punjab. Coming from a small town like Moga, he has brought glory to India across the world. Recently, she created history by helping the Indian women’s team win its first ODI World Cup. After this achievement, his name was included in the list of Padma awards.

Harmanpreet Kaur was born on 8 March 1989 in Moga, Punjab. Harman, who had a passion for cricket since childhood, made her place in the game at a young age. He made his international debut in 2009 and has consistently performed brilliantly since then. So far he has played 7 Test matches, 164 ODI matches and 195 T20 matches for India. During this period, he has scored 230 runs in Test, 4541 runs in ODI and 3991 runs in T20.

Harmanpreet Kaur has won many matches for India in her career. His unbeaten inning of 171 runs in the ODI World Cup 2017 is still remembered, in which he showed amazing performance against a strong team like Australia. He took India to the final in the 2017 World Cup. The recent ODI World Cup win was the biggest achievement of his career, in which his captaincy and batting took the team to new heights. Now his eyes are on 2026 T20 World Cup.

Paralympic gold medal winner para high jumper Praveen Kumar was also awarded the Padma Shri award for his outstanding contribution to the sports world. The story of young athlete Praveen Kumar from Uttar Pradesh is an example of inspiration. Despite having disability in one leg since birth, he did not give up. World number 1 para high jumper Praveen in the T64 category won the gold medal in the Paris 2024 Paralympics and also made an Asian record.
