
President Draupadi Murmu presented the Padma Awards for the year 2026 at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. This year, 131 Padma honors have been announced, which include 5 Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri. 19 women were honored, while 16 people were given awards posthumously. In the first phase on Monday, 66 celebrities were awarded the Padma Award.
President Draupadi Murmu first honored late film star Dharmendra with Padma Vibhushan. His wife, actress-MP Hema Malini, received this honour. Dharmendra died in November 2025 at the age of 89. He breathed his last just a few days before his birthday. He was ill for a long time.

Women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet was honored with Padma Shri. Under his leadership, the team won the ODI World Cup this year. President Draupadi Murmu also honored Paralympic gold medalist para high jumper Praveen Kumar with Padma Shri.
