This is not the first time that a cafe is charging money based on time. The concept of ‘Time Café’ or ‘Entry Café’ is now becoming popular in many cities of India. At Pune’s Mauji Time Café, customers pay for time spent instead of food, which offers free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee. At GVQ Time Cafe in Kochi, Rs 150 is charged for the first hour and then Rs 1 per minute. People say that instead of charging directly, cafes should choose options like ‘Laptop Free Zone’ or ‘Screen Free Hours’.
