Death…everything comes to a halt when you hear these words. The biggest truth for humans, but also the biggest mystery… No one can tell while alive what happens after death. We all just guess, hear stories from people, read books, but there are some people who touch death and come back. The story of one such person has come to light from Sweden these days. His name is Lasse Gustavsson. Who was a firefighter in his time, is now a motivational speaker. He shared his experience regarding death. Hearing this, people got goosebumps.
It is about 1981. Lasse was then only 24 years old and full of enthusiasm. When the news of gas leak came in the oil harbor of Gothenburg, he reached there with his team. The fire truck was standing very close to the gas cloud. No one had any idea what was going to happen in the next few seconds.
How did life change suddenly?
Sudden explosion. 20 tons of propane gas exploded simultaneously. Fire all around. Lasse and his friend Leif jumped out of the truck and ran to save their lives. But Leif could not survive. 40% of Lasse’s body was burnt – face, hands, fingers, ears… everything. When he reached the hospital, the doctors also gave up. Remained in coma for two months. When I regained consciousness, my weight had reduced to half. It was difficult to even look at myself in the mirror.
Lasse says that he was clinically dead for some time at the time of that blast. That means the heart had stopped. And during that time he felt something which is difficult to explain in words. They say that place was like heaven. Very calm, peaceful. There I felt that life is not just about money or name. The real thing is love, compassion for others, and the passion to help. He believes that death is not the end. A new chapter is beginning. This experience became a turning point for him.
This is how I started my new life
Imagine, such a big accident, face burnt, fingers lost. Had it been anyone else, it would have broken down. But Lasse did not give up. It took 6 years, but he returned to duty in the fire department. Later, after retirement, he started motivational speaking. Today Lasse is around 70. There are still burn marks on his face, but he doesn’t hide them. He says these are my medals. This shows that I fell, but got up. He also teaches kayaking. They tell people that no matter how big the difficulty is, it can be fought.

This experience of Lasse is called NDE i.e. Near Death Experience. Big organizations like IANDS have done their case studies. Recently, he expressed his views openly in several podcasts, after which the debate on NDE has again erupted across the world. Scientists are still doing research on this. Some doctors say that at the time of death, certain chemicals are released in the brain, due to which such visions are seen. Some people consider it to be a journey of the soul, but for people like Lasse, this debate does not matter. They say that when you live it, it becomes 100% true for you. No theory can refute it.
