An incident has come to light from Nandgaon village of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra which has forced everyone to think. The video of a small girl allegedly being brutally beaten in the Anganwadi here is becoming increasingly viral on social media. After watching the video, people are angry and concern about the safety of children has also increased.
In the viral video, it is clearly visible that a woman is beating an innocent girl badly. The child is continuously crying and trying to save herself, but instead of showing mercy to her, the woman is seen beating her continuously. It is also seen in the video that the child is beaten so badly that she falls on the ground. A foot is placed on her chest and she is also kicked. Seeing such scenes, people’s hearts are shaken.
Why did people get angry?
It is being told that this incident took place at the Anganwadi center located in Nandgaon, where small children are taken care of. In such centres, parents leave their children with the confidence that they will be well taken care of, but this video has raised serious questions on that trust.
As soon as this video went viral on social media, anger spread among the people of the area. A large number of villagers and mothers reached outside the Anganwadi center and started protesting. People demanded strict action against the accused woman and said that she should be immediately removed from the job and given the strictest punishment under the law. After the matter gained momentum, Navi Mumbai Police also immediately came into action. Taking cognizance of the viral video, the police have registered the case and started investigating the entire matter. Officials say that first of all the authenticity of the video and all the facts related to it are being investigated. Besides, statements of people related to the incident are also being recorded so that the correct picture of the entire matter can be revealed.
Police officials said that the investigation is being taken forward on priority basis. If the video is found true in the investigation and the allegations are proved, then strict action will be taken against the culprits as per law. At present the police is investigating every aspect closely so that no fact is ignored.
Meanwhile, keeping in mind the safety of the children, the administration has also sent a special team to the Anganwadi center. The team is taking stock of the safety of other children present there and is ensuring that such an incident does not happen again with any child. Besides, the functioning of the center and the employees working there are also being investigated.
Local people say that such incidents are very worrying for the society. Expressing displeasure, a parent said that parents send their children to Anganwadi in the hope of a safe environment, but if violence starts happening to them there, then it is very sad and scary. He said that there should be no compromise on any kind of cruelty towards children and a policy of zero tolerance should be adopted in such cases.
