Andhra Pradesh: The unique and wonderful creations of nature have always surprised humans. The forest area of Nallamala, surrounded by dense forests and high mountains, is known for its historical secrets and unique biodiversity. Recently, officials of the Archeology Department conducted a special survey to identify historical heritage sites in the Nallamala area. During this survey, a giant banyan (Udalmari) tree has been found in the forests of Palutala village of Nallamala in Andhra Pradesh, which everyone is stunned to see. Today this tree is attracting everyone’s attention as a great natural heritage.
The size and dimensions of this banyan tree can surprise anyone. This great tree stands like a huge fort in the middle of the forest. This tree is about 100 feet tall and 60 feet wide. The circumference (circumference) of the main trunk of this tree is about 40 feet.
This tree has very beautiful roots
On one hand, dozens of branches and roots (baroh) extending from the top of the tree to the ground enhance the beauty of the forest. On the other hand, it creates curiosity and thrill in the viewers. The person standing under this tree looks so small, as if he is an ant.
History of 7 generations and worship for 200 years
According to the local tribals and tribes, the history of this tree is very old and glorious. Local people claim that this tree has been standing here for about two to three hundred years and their ancestors have been taking care of it for the last 7 generations. The ancient idol of their village deity is installed under this huge tree, where it is being worshiped with full devotion continuously for the last 200 years (two centuries). Tribal people say that there is no other such big and historical tree in the entire area.
Great need for environmental protection
In today’s modern era and concrete jungles, it is impossible to find such huge trees in cities or normal settlements except in dense forests like Nallamala. It is a big responsibility of both the government and the society to preserve this historical tree which has been maintaining the environmental balance and preserving biodiversity for centuries. This tree is no less than a wonder for the tourists and nature lovers visiting Palutala village.
