
The situation became tense outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Odisha yesterday when two women suddenly consumed poison after a protest. Regarding the incident, police said that on Sunday, 3 women protested continuously near the house of Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi. Then two of them allegedly consumed poison in protest over the delay in resolving the land dispute.
Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena said that this incident happened near the place fixed for the demonstration at Lower PMG. The DCP said, “Three women were protesting at the designated place, demanding resolution of the land dispute in Banpur in Khurda district. Meanwhile, police personnel from Banpur were called to the protest site to take them to their area to resolve the land dispute.”
Consumed poison in the name of going to public toilet
Before leaving for Banpur, two of the three women went to a public toilet and allegedly consumed poison there, he said. When the condition of both the women started deteriorating, both of them were taken to Capital Hospital.

Both the women are now out of danger: DCP Meena
DCP Meena said, “Both were treated with potash water and made to vomit. Initial reports suggest that they are now out of danger.”
