‘Indian languages should get a place in public life’
Shubhendu Adhikari told that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had written a letter to him suggesting to use Bengali language more in administration. The Chief Minister read out Shah’s letter, “This year marks the 125th birth anniversary of India’s great educationist, politician and deep thinker, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee.”
He read out in the Assembly, “Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was a strong supporter of the preservation, development and widespread use of Indian languages. He strongly believed that Indian languages should get their rightful place in administration, education and public life, because a democratic governance system can be effective and people-centric only when it works in the people’s own language.”
