‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, released in 2015, was a family comedy-drama film, which was directed by Zoya Akhtar. The film was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment. Its story revolves around a rich but broken family ‘Mehra Family’, who is seen struggling with the complications of their relationships on a cruise trip. Stars like Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Vikrant Massey and Rahul Bose were seen in the film, while Aamir Khan lent his voice to the dog ‘Pluto’ in the film.
The film was a super hit
Made with a budget of around Rs 83 crore, the film ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ did a worldwide business of around Rs 140 crore and later it came to be considered a cult family drama. The songs, dialogues and characters of the film were liked a lot by the audience. The special thing was that Dil Dhadakne Do strengthened Ranveer Singh’s image from being just an energetic hero to an emotional and mature actor.

In August 2023, when Ranveer was announced as the new Don with a spectacular teaser, tremendous bonding and excitement was seen between the two.
