Notice dispute at Abhishek Banerjee’s house, parents filed petition in High Court

The father and mother of Trinamool Congress national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee have approached the Calcutta High Court. Abhishek Banerjee’s father Amit Banerjee and mother Lata Banerjee filed a petition in the High Court on Monday, demanding quashing of the notice of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. He said that his house at 29-C, Harish Chatterjee Street was built legally. Kolkata Municipal Corporation has issued a notice regarding illegal construction in this legally built house. Therefore the notice of the Municipal Corporation should be rejected. The hearing of this case is likely to be held in the vacation bench of the High Court next Wednesday.

From Kolkata Municipal Corporation after the change of government in the state Abhishek Banerjee Notices were sent to many houses. It was said that illegal constructions in houses should be demolished.

KMC illegal construction notice: What is the whole matter?

This notice has also been given to Abhishek Banerjee’s Shantiniketan house. A few days ago, when journalists asked about this, Abhishek Banerjee lost his temper. He had said that first the Municipal Corporation should know which part is illegal, then it will comment.

Now Abhishek Banerjee’s parents have told the Calcutta High Court that the Municipal Corporation has sent a notice to their house at 29-C Harish Chatterjee Street. In his petition he has claimed that this house was built legally. Nevertheless, the Municipal Corporation has sent a notice regarding illegal construction. Therefore the notice should be rejected.

Clash between KMC and Trinamool over ‘illegal construction’

The case is likely to be heard in the vacation bench of the High Court next Wednesday. It remains to be seen what order the High Court gives in view of the petition of Abhishek’s parents.

Kolkata Municipal Corporation is in the hands of Trinamool Congress. However, after the change of state, Kolkata Municipal Corporation has also become active regarding illegal construction. In view of this, notices were sent to many addresses to demolish the illegal construction.

Then, the state government demolished illegal constructions with bulldozers at many places in Kolkata. It is learned that Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee had expressed her displeasure over sending this notice in a meeting with the councilors of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, at which time Mayor Firhad Hakim had said that he did not know anything about it. This notice was sent by the Municipal Commissioner.
