The case of theft of offerings of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple is no longer limited to only investigation, but this matter has now intensified the tussle within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust as well. According to sources related to the trust, differences have come to the fore between outgoing general secretary Champat Rai and trust member Dr. Anil Mishra. Both are busy clarifying the situation regarding their respective roles.
According to sources, in this period of allegations and counter-allegations, even the normal communication between Champat Rai and Anil Mishra is said to have almost stopped. Sources claim that the two have not even met since the theft case came to light. Due to which all kinds of questions are being raised.
Champat Rai presented his side by writing two letters
On July 7, Champat Rai responded to the allegations being leveled against him by issuing two separate letters. He said that he has maintained silence for the time being and will respond to all the allegations sequentially after the final report of the SIT comes. Meanwhile, on his social media platform ‘X’ profile, he wrote the famous couplet of Ramcharitmanas “Dheeraj, Dharma, Mitra Aru Nari, Aapd Kaal Parkhiye Chari” as the title and shared his letter with it.
Questions raised on SOP and MOU
On the same day, another letter from Champat Rai also came out, in which he raised many serious questions regarding the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and MOU related to the offering calculation process. In the letter, he said that this agreement related to the offering calculation system was made between Trust member Dr. Anil Mishra and the then bank branch manager Govind Mishra. He claims that he was not even aware of this agreement. He also wrote that after the stolen amount was recovered, the accounts office of the trust provided him this MOU on June 13.
Champat Rai’s signature not on the document
Champat Rai wrote in the letter that this document does not have his signature. He raised the question that when his signatures were on all other important MoUs of the Trust, why was he not included on this MOU. He says that if he was not present in Ayodhya at that time then he should have been waited for to sign the document.
This letter is being seen as an attempt by Champat Rai to distance himself from his responsibility and indirectly raise questions on Dr. Anil Mishra and the concerned bank officials.
Govind Dev Giri Maharaj also raised questions
Meanwhile, Trust Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj has already publicly said that the responsibility of donation boxes was with Dr. Anil Mishra and questions related to it should be asked to him only. He had also said that he is not responsible for the money until it is deposited in the fund.
Exercise to fix responsibility within the trust
Sources say that this statement was also seen as an attempt to fix responsibility within the Trust and indirectly as a siege of Dr. Anil Mishra. According to sources, the distance between the top officials of the trust has continuously increased since the offering theft incident came to light. Champat Rai has already said to remain silent in public, whereas there has been no public response from Dr. Anil Mishra on these allegations yet.
