The state government has extended the tenure of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged financial irregularities in the offerings and donation box of Ram Temple. However, no confirmation has been made yet by the state government. Earlier the SIT had to submit its final report to the government by June 28, but now it has been given additional time for detailed investigation. However, it has not yet been made clear at the government level for how many days the tenure has been extended.
The state government had constituted SIT under the chairmanship of Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Dr. Vijay Vishwas Pant on June 13 after the case of alleged theft from the donation box came to light. The investigation team was entrusted with the responsibility of submitting the preliminary report within seven days and the final report within 15 days. The SIT had submitted its preliminary report to Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Prasad on June 23.
Will send report to government after large scale investigation
According to sources, on the basis of the facts revealed in the preliminary investigation, the SIT will now conduct an in-depth investigation on a large scale into the documents, financial transactions, security arrangements and the role of the concerned officers and employees. After this the final report will be submitted to the government. Government sources say that the SIT investigation is not bound by any fixed time limit and if necessary, it can be given time till the investigation is completed.
Regarding this matter, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had clearly said during his visit to Ayodhya on June 19 that SIT has been formed on the request of the Trust and the investigation will be “milk of milk and water of water”. The Chief Minister had also said that 15 days have been given to complete the investigation and “no culprit will be spared.”
Now with the extension in the tenure of SIT, it is expected that the scope of investigation will become wider. The role of responsible persons, administrative lapses and necessary action may come to light in the final report.
