Nitish Kumar became national president for the fourth time

He was first appointed to this post in 2016 replacing Sharad Yadav and was appointed for the second term in 2019.
After this, after the resignation of Lalan Singh, he was appointed national president for the third time in December 2023. On March 24, 2026, he was elected national president unopposed for the fourth time. This decision was approved in the National Council meeting on Sunday.
