
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two fugitive accused in the murder case of Karnataka BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru in 2022. Nettaru was allegedly murdered by activists of the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI). The statement said that based on concrete information received from Andhra Pradesh Police, in a two-state operation, the accused Abdul Nasir was arrested from Kochi in Kerala and Naushad from Hosur in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
With their arrest, the total number of accused arrested in this case has reached 24. Three accused are still absconding. Nettaru was killed by two assailants riding a motorcycle in Bellare village. It is alleged that the attackers were members of PFI.
Two more absconding accused caught by NIA
In fact, the NIA has arrested two main fugitives in the case of the brutally targeted murder of local BJP leader Praveen Nettaru by members of the banned organization ‘Popular Front of India’ (PFI) in Karnataka in 2022. Based on concrete information received from Andhra Pradesh Police, in a coordinated operation conducted in two states, Abdul Nasir alias Nasir was arrested from Kochi (Kerala) and Naushad from Hosur (Tamil Nadu) on Saturday. With this, the total number of arrests in this case has increased to 24, while three accused are still absconding.
Gave shelter to the main attackers
NIA had earlier filed a chargesheet against Abdul Nasir and Naushad under various sections of the IPC and UA (P) Act in the Praveen Nettaru murder case. He is accused of knowingly and willingly harboring the main attackers who killed Praveen Nettaru, a member of the District Executive Committee of the BJP Yuva Morcha in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka.
Efforts to trace absconding accused
NIA Special Court, Bengaluru had also issued ‘Look Out Circular’ (LOC) and ‘Open-Dated Arrest Warrant’ against the charge-sheeted accused. Apart from this, NIA had also announced a reward of Rs 4 lakh for anyone providing information about his whereabouts. NIA is continuing its efforts to trace the remaining absconding accused.
